Shimano SPD-SL Cleat Recall

Actually, we're not even sure if it's technically a recall, but Shimano did send out a registered letter to shops that had purchased the new Lance-style SPD pedal (looks almost like a superlight LOOK pedal) telling us to get ahold of any customer who had purchased them and replace their original cleats with a newer style.
Many pedals did ship out with the new-style cleat (as seen on the left), so you may have no reason for concern.  But if your cleat looks identical to the one shown on the right, you need to take them back to the shop you purchased the pedals from for a new replacement cleat (which will look like the one on the left).

Fortunately, the differences are great enough that we don't think you'll have any difficulty at all telling which ones you have, but, of course, if there's any question, bring them into a shop.  You might also print out this page, so they have something to look at themselves (since Shimano didn't send out very detailed graphics showing the two cleats).
